I'm looking for some info regarding surface milling a ballscrew thread on a turnmill. I created a woodruff cutter with .007 less radius to make several passes thru the part. The thread is a double helix and starts in the part about .300 deep and ends about the same before the other end. This was ok in threadmilling but the thread shapes change on some others and requires surface milling. I've tried every option in the software both roughing and finishing and come up frustrated at best. The cutter moves in and out in the z axis and the cuts are made in the x axis with the spindle rotating. At least this is what we intended. I can't get past errors long enough to see if there is a chance to fix the problem. I tried every surface milling feature listed.
